Project Employment Notice

Applications duly typed or neatly own hand written are invited latest by 28^th May 2010 for the following positions on temporary/contract basis only for the period of the tenure of the projects entitled “Enhancing knowledge and promoting health seeking behaviour of couples on STIs and cervical cancer in urban slums of Mumbai” duly funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR):-

3	Statistical Assistant	01	A Post Graduate/ Graduate degree in Statistics / Mathematics with at least 1 year of experience in research / data analysis	Below 28 years	Rs.10,700/- pm
4	Technician (Lab)	01	A Post Graduate degree in Biological Science / B.Sc, DMLT with experience of working in laboratory on Cytology and Pap Smears.	Below 28 years	Rs.9,630/- pm

Duration of appointment of above posts will be two and half years but extendable only on yearly basis on the basis, of their work performance.

General:

Speaking in Marathi and reporting/writing skills in English is essential for all the post above.
The relaxation in age in case of reserved category candidates will be given (SC/ST-5 Years, OBC-3 years and PH-10 years as the case may be). However, no age limit for candidate from the NIRRH or ICMR Institutes.

The candidates are requested to apply on plain paper giving complete bio-data along with the attested relevant copies of certificates and testimonials, caste certificate etc. The complete application in all respects should reach to the Director, National Institute for Reproductive Health, J.M. Conferences:MILE STONES of IASSH

First Conference: November 2003

First conference of IASSH was organized by Prof. K. A. Parvathy, Head of the Department of Women’s Studies, Sri Padmavati Women’s University, Tirupati, in November 2003. The theme of the conference was “Poverty and Health” which was attended by many young Social Scientists, Health and Medical professionals. At this conference a resolution was passed recommending the formation of the Indian Association for Social Sciences and Health (IASSH).

Second Conference: February 2005

Second Conference of the Association was organized in Mumbai in February 2005, with Dr.C.P.Prakasam, Professor at the International Institute for Population Sciences and Dr.S.Sivaraju, Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences as organizing Secretaries. The theme of the conference was “Globalization and Health Equity”. There were 150 participants in the conference and they represented a wide range of disciplines. In Mumbai conference a resolution was passed recommending the registration of the association under the Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act with registered office at Tirupati and with the special efforts made by Dr. K.A.Parvathy, the IASSH has been registered under the Societies Registration Act of Andhra Pradesh with Registration Number 218 of 2006.

Third Conference: March 2006

The Third conference was held at New Delhi at the National Institute of Health & Family Welfare (NIHFW) in March 2006, with Dr. A. M. Khan, Professor at NIHFW, as Organizing Secretary. The theme of the conference was “Health Reforms and the Social Sciences: Challenges Ahead”.

Fourth Conference: February 2007

The fourth conference was held in the South Gujarat University, Surat in February, 2007 with Dr. Suguna Pathy, Professor of Sociology as Organizing Secretary, The theme was “Health Policies and Programmes: Contribution of Social Sciences”.

Fifth Conference: April 2008

The fifth conference was held at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) and the theme of the conference is “Millennium Development Goals and Health” with Prof.S.Peppin as Organizing Secretary. Around 120 abstracts have been received and presented by Scientists with variety of disciplines, namely, Health, Sociology, Economics, Demography, Anthropology, Psychology, Finance, Management and other eminent persons.
In spite of various financial constraints the IASSH has accomplished five conferences within a span of 6 years since its inception. Our membership has also grown to 190 at present. Social Scientists, Health and Medical Professional are welcome to join as members.
